Baystate Jeepers, Inc

BayState Jeepers
Another Jeep club one may consider joining is the Baystate Jeepers. The Baystate Jeepers was formed in 1998, with the goal of promoting off roading as a family-oriented activity for 4wd Jeep off roading enthusiasts and the sport of driving on primitive roads requiring high clearance four-wheel drive vehicles. They plan trail rides once a month generally from March through November (weather permitting) and during the summer months they incorporate their trips with camping and other activities. They rate their trails from 1 (easiest) to 10 (most difficult) so it is easy to tell if the challenge is something you would enjoy. Most the trips they go on range in the difficulty scale of 4 to 6.

Different activities that Baystate Jeepers have partook in are through out the years are various canned food drives, charity fund raisers, and trail cleanups, including working with the State Forest Service. This enables them to help keep trails open and to gain access to other trails as well as improve the image of Jeep Off Roaders. Baystate Jeepers practice the tread-lightly principles. Their representative for Tread-Lightly is Don Dewar.

As a member of Baystate Jeepers, Inc. you will receive a monthly newsletter which will keep you informed as to upcoming events and dates, trip ratings, directions, past trip reports, and more. If you are interested in becoming a member, check out their website at Baystate Jeepers.

  1. This is right up my alley. I have 2 preteen boys who love to go off road with me. I’ve even let them drive some so they get the feel. Some clubs are geared for adults only, and that’s OK, if you don’t have kids, or don’t take kids with you to events.

  2. The only thing I love more than camping is Jeeping. A chance to do both with a club sounds like a great idea. I’m going to check it out. Thanks for the article.

  3. I’ve been checking out this club and am impressed by all they do and offer. I love Jeeping but I’ve never been to any big events. I think that is all about to change.

  4. Me and my family have been members of the Baystate Jeepers since their beginning. It’s been fun watching the club grow and take part in events, both the ones we sponsored and ones sponsored by other clubs. Even if there is not an event scheduled you can always find one or more other club members willing to go off road with you for as long as you want. It’s been a good experience for us.

  5. I so like the idea that they rate the trails. Not only am I new to Jeeping, I’m a girl. I find I’m a little more reluctant to try the harder trails until I’m comfortable with the level I’m working on. I’ll get there, it’s just going to take some time. I really love being off road, I guess I’ve always pretty much been the tom boy of the family. I know none of my sisters would even consider going with me, they might break a nail!

  6. I’ve been Jeeping for about a year now. I think I’m probably in the 4 to 6 range out of 10 for difficulty. When the range goes past 6 it doesn’t sideline me, I just hook a ride with another member. I really enjoy being off road and I’ve made some great friends too. Belonging to Baystate Jeepers is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. So far anyway.

  7. Baystate Jeepers are good people, always interested in doing things for the community. I felt priviledged to join them. They sure know how to have fun off road too. The entire time I’ve been with the club has been really great.

  8. As a member of the Baystate Jeepers I enjoy giving back to the community. You never know when you might need a helping hand so if you have it, share it. The times I’ve spent working with the State Forest Service have been particularly rewarding for me.

  9. I joined Baystate Jeepers almost 3 years ago. It’s been a pretty wild ride so far. It’s an active club that provides a lot more than trails.
