Hi, My name is Derek and I am 26 years old. I have been married for 2 years. I am originally from Northern Colorado but have been living in Norfolk VA for 2 years. However, I am more then anxious to move back out west!

I currently own a 2005 LJ with Chromoly Dana 44 axles front and rear w/Yukon Zip locker out back, 4.56 gears, 37 inch Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrains(in town). I run 37 inch Pit Bull Rockers in the dirt. 5.75″ suspension lift in front and 5″ lift in rear w/ Fox racing shox, 1″ body lift.

The best modifications to date would have to be my Poison Spyder tube fenders and Savvy Offorad Aluminum gas tank skid and Skid Row Offroad oil pan skid plate as well as my bestop trektop. I love them all! I am very excited about my RockKrawler X factor steering system that I’m installing next week! Still on my Jeep wish list are Gen Right’s 3 link front suspension and 4 link rear w/ Fox coilovers and a full welded rollcage and a Vortec supercharger would be nice!

I started wheelin at a young age of 12 riding around the Colorado and Wyoming mountains in my dad’s and my uncle’s Toyota pickups. I got my first 4×4 at age 18 – a Chevy s10.

Craziest wheelin incident: Breaking a front axle on my old truck and having to leave it above 10,000 ft for 2 weeks in January in the Colorado mountains and coming close to not recovering it until summer.

I always knew I’d buy a Jeep someday. I’ve always loved them so in the spring of 09 I bought my 05 LJ bone stock with 5,000 miles on it and haven’t looked back since. I’ll probably always own one. They are so fun to wheel and they look awesome when you build them right.

My favorite wheelin spot is Rausch Creek, PA. and Wheelin Crew is IFOJ (Independent Friends of Joe).

Let me close with my favorite Wheelin Quote: “Long hauls and close calls”

"You're telling me it's got four wheels, two seats and goes faster than the speed limit? Good, I'm driving."

  1. A buddy of mine lives in Pennsylvania and he’s been telling me about Rausch Creek. I moved to New Mexico about a year ago but I’m planning a trip back east this summer. He’s the main stop so I’m hoping to get a chance to check it out myself.

Derek you have an awesome set of wheels. Wanna trade?

  2. That’s a clean looking Jeep you got there, clean being the operative word. The only time mine looks that good is from the time I wash it until I get back behind the wheel. My wife is always telling me that it’s a dirt magnet and it always rubs off on me. The ‘good clean fun’ I have always makes for ‘full cover dirt’, or worse, if I’m lucky.

  3. Looks like you have made some serious investments outfitting your Jeep. It looks great and I’m a bit jealous. I just bought my very own Jeep. I’ve been driving my Dad’s and decided it was time to get my own so I could make all the changes I want. Since I’m still paying for the Jeep, any updates will have to be small or saved up for. I’ll get there!
