Jeep bumpers and tire carriers are not things that most people think of when they think of modifying their Jeep. There are times when it is a good idea to get new bumpers or replacement bumpers, and it is always a good idea to have tire carriers. You never know what you might run into, especially if you enjoy taking your Jeep off road.
There are two reasons that you might want to replace the bumpers on your Jeep. You can easily find factory replacement bumpers for your Jeep. These are excellent if you want to keep the same factory look but you have had something happen to damage the bumper. It could be that someone backed into you or perhaps you skidded off the road. Maybe you bumper was scratched while your Jeep was parked in a grocery store parking lot. Whatever the reason, if you want to replace the bumper you can often buy a factory replacement and do it yourself for a better price than if you were to go to a body shop and ask them to do it.
Another reason you might want to replace your bumper is if you want an aftermarket one that will give your Jeep a new look or that will allow you to tow something. Some front bumpers will have a winch that will let you pull and some back bumpers will have places you can install hitches so that you can pull just about anything you want to. You can choose bumpers that have hooks, are chrome, or that are even tubular in shape for a truly unique look to your Jeep.
It’s important to have a tire carrier on your Jeep because that will allow you to carry a spare tire easily. You can have a rear tire carrier which easily attaches to your rear bumper while staying out of the way of your line of sight. This will allow you to always have a spare tire because you never know when a tire will go out. If you off road a lot, it is essential that you have a spare tire because you could end up stranded miles from any help and possibly in an area without cell phone access, so you wouldn’t be able to call. Even in town, you can find yourself stuck on the side of the road for much longer than you need to be if you don’t have a spare tire. You can also get extensions. Spare tire extensions allow you to carry larger tires, which can be useful if you have a Jeep that uses larger off road tires.
