Freedom Off Road – Vancleave, Mississippi

In keeping with trying to bring to the forefront all of the available off roading groups around the state, I bring to you today Freedom Off Road located in Vancleave, Mississippi. The Freedom Off Road club was suggested to us by Spence Rees. If you know of a group that we haven’t featured yet, please let us know and we will add it to our list. Please provide the URL with your suggestion. If the site does not have a current website, give us some background information on it and address and we will get it posted.

Here is some information about Freedom Off Road from their official website: www.freedomoffroad.org.

Freedom Off Road is a group of off road enthusiasts and their families. The meetings are open to anyone if they are posted on the public forums (which is the main website). The meetings are informal and are normally pot luck dinners. Some people make food or buy it to bring to the meeting and some do not. It isn’t required but it is encouraged so that there is plenty for everyone. The club itself normally will provide napkins, paper plates, and disposable tableware. Alcohol is allowed but you must bring it yourself and drink responsibly as there are often families with children present. The clubhouse is located on Seaman Road in Vancleave, Mississippi.

The forum for the club is as active as the club itself is. There are discussion boards for a wide variety of topics: trail rides, new members, technical, wanted, product reviews, and much more. There is also an off topic board so that members can freely discuss anything they like. While it’s not an enormous group, there are 104 members on the forum, 29 who are very active, and they are always happy to answer questions or set up trail rides.

  1. Now this sounds like a club I could get into and feel right at home. The only problem, as I see it, is that I live in Tacoma, Washington! So, the next best thing would be to get the local club to adopt some of the practices from Freedom Off Road. Great ideas!

  2. That is an awsome logo! I’ve been thinking about joining a club. There are a couple pretty near to where I live. I’m pretty new to off road activities and that’s probably why I haven’t joined a club yet. I don’t want to be the greenhorn. I figured a month of outings will at least give me something to talk to others about. I’ve made a couple of improvements and have a couple of more I would like to complete first. I’d like to check the clubs out too and see which one appears to be more active.

  3. I’ve seen this sticker around town before and now I know why. Vancleave is just the next town over. I’ve been looking at Jeeps for a while and I think I’m about ready to take the plunge. It’s nice to know there is a club close by and it sounds like it would be a good fit. I can hardly wait to get behind the wheel and get started. I’ve taken it for a couple of test drives but as I’m sure you know, they come with you. Not much of a chance to try the off road experience, if you know what I mean!

  4. The company I work for is opening a branch in Vancleave and there’s talk that I may be sent there for 2 to 3 weeks every month for 6 months to help get it operational. I’ll be spending a lot of time in training seminars but I should have some free time on the weekends to check out this club and get some tips on the best trails around. Appreciate the information on the club.

  5. Shirley and I are saps for pot luck dinners. We’d be apt to join this club for that. Too bad there are 2 states between us! We really need to suggest that a pot luck become the forum for our monthly meeting. What can I say? We like to eat almost as much as we like to take our Jeep off road. I see no reason why they have to be mutually exclusive!
