Pirate 4×4 – Online

In keeping with trying to bring to the forefront all of the available off roading groups around the state, I bring to you today Pirate 4×4, a group that is an online off roading community and the largest off roading website in the world. The Pirate 4×4 group was suggested to us by Barbara Rainey. If you know of a group that we haven’t featured yet, please let us know and we will add it to our list. Please provide the URL with your suggestion. If the site does not have a current website, give us some background information on it and address and we will get it posted.

Here is some information about Pirate 4×4 from their official website www.pirate4x4.com.

This group is a large online group that was founded January 7, 1998. There are 1.5 million visits and 18 million page views every month. The primary focus of the site is 4×4 vehicles, but it is an excellent source for anything is off road related. You’ll find event coverage, news, and forums that will keep you up to date on everything. There is also a live webcast that is held the second Tuesday of every month.

The forums are very busy and very popular. There are vendor forums as well as a vendors marketplace where vendors can post items for sale such as axles, armor, tools, and more. There are forums that are for brand specific tech, such as hardcore tech for Jeeps, tech for Hummers, and more. Members will also find event info, trail rides, general tech, land use, trails, regional forums, and just about anything else that they might want to find.   Over 186,000 members visit the site regularly, so there is always something new to find.

  1. Whoa, this is majorly big. I do wonder why I’ve never heard of it before. I’ve been an off road enthusiast for nearly 10 years. I’ve been to events in 24 states and can’t recall hearing of this club before. I am definitely going to be checking it out. When you have that many people hitting on a site, it’s because there are things to be found. Thanks for the heads up.

  2. I’m looking forward to the live web cast. I’ve never tried one of them before and I’m anxious to see how it works. This is a huge site and I’ve already found a couple of bargains. I wonder what I did for entertainment before I found your web site!

  3. I was looking through some of your past posts and got to wondering how some of the clubs came up with their names. I think it would be great if they added that information. My parents were into vans when they were my age. They belonged to a club called the Vanatics. They have several albums with tons of photos from all of their trips, events, parties and club meetings. It’s hard to imagine it when I look at them now, but they were party animals in their day! Makes a son proud, if you know what I mean. Now they spend their weekends off road in a Jeep pretty similar to mine. They’re not so much party animals any more but they still recognize a good sport when they see it.

  4. Sounds like a busy club that really gets it’s members involved. I like that. The club I belonged to before was comprised of mostly onlookers. It gets old being one of the same few doing all the work. I don’t mind doing my share but I don’t want to be carrying the whole load.
