Add a Simple Bracket to Your Jeep and Change the Way you Off-Road

We all know that there are many people who love their Wranglers and Wrangler Unlimiteds to the point of obsession and many of these people would choose their vehicles over their best friends or even families. As great as they are for off-roading they sometimes fall short when it comes to the needs of taking a trip longer than a day or two. That is unless you buy a Bestop HighRock 4×4 Tray Bracket Kit For 42904 Slideaway On 1997-06 Jeep Wrangler & Unlimited and equip it with a universal rack tray.

This type of set up allows for four people to fit comfortable in the cabin with a few pieces of luggage and camping equipment on the trunk area. The rest of the stuff you need for your trip can be fastened safely to rack and slide-away bracket. Without the bracket kit you will just be left the ability to use a cargo net on your slideaway. With the bracket in place you can add the universal tray which allows things like coolers, portable grills and other heavy things that need to be carried to your remote camping site.

The Bestop HighRock 4×4 Tray Bracket Kit For 42904 Slideaway On 1997-06 Jeep Wrangler & Unlimited can be bought on-line at places like for just under 25 bucks and can easily help transform your Jeep Wrangler into a 4×4 that can take you places for longer than you ever imagined with all the stuff you need to have a great time.

This bracket is meant for people who drive Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited vehicles that were made between 1997 and 2006. And work perfectly with the 42904 Slideaway made by Bestop HighRock. Just keep in mind that the rack is sold separately, but they can usually be found for around $75 or so and are well worth it.

This little easy to install bracket coupled with the utility tray will literally change the way you off road. If you are traveling by yourself or with a buddy you can fill the vehicle to the brim or if you have a family they can sit in the seats while you venture to the far away camp site instead of sitting on all the gear.

"You're telling me it's got four wheels, two seats and goes faster than the speed limit? Good, I'm driving."

  1. Choosing time in my Wrangler over time with my family has been the reason for many a disagreement in my life. To soothe the rough times I balance my off road time with camping trips that include my wife and 2 small sons. By installing the tray bracket and slideaway I’m able to carry my cargo while keeping my sons safe in their car seats and my wife happy with ‘family time’. When my off road opportunities surface, all I have to do is slide the tray away and off I go. This way, Mama’s happy and everyone else can be too!

  2. I’ll be buying the whole set up. We travel a lot and love to off road too. This will sure make my life easier on both fronts. We have a 2 month old and believe me, when we travel it’s everything but the kitchen sink that goes with us. The slideaway is the perfect solution to our travel problems. Love this site and all the advice.

  3. My 04 Wrangler is about to get this feature. I’m forever loading, unloading and reloading to get all of my supplies into the back. This extended storage rack is the anwser to my problems. I’ve already ordered it and am waiting, not patiently, for its arrival. Your site if the place to be for serious off roaders! Keep up the great work.

  4. When I was heading home from a conference last Friday I say a Jeep with a rear rack but couldn’t get close enough for a really good look. I searched the web and found your site. I’ve spent the last hour plus reading some of your tips and articles. I think this is what they call a win win situation. Not only did I find the information about the rack, I found a site dedicated to Jeeps. You have a new follower!

  5. Now this is an upgrade I can make and feel great about. I think the little woman would go along with it too. It seems like there is never enough room to fit everything that we want to take on a trip. This would make life a lot easier and trips more enjoyable for both of us. And, when I head off road, it won’t be in the way. Someone was using their thinking cap when they came up with this.

  6. I was considering a roof rack but this looks like it would better suit my needs. I really like the fact that it slides out of sight when not in use. I usually only travel by myself or one other person max. I’m going to talk to a buddy of mine who has a roof rack and see what he thinks about this as opposed to his. Great job, keep up the good work.

  7. This is exactly what I need. There never seems to be enough room inside for all our gear. The fact that it slides out of sight when not in use is an added bonus. I freakin love this site.
