Jeep vehicle lovers can be found all across the globe, which is why the automaker occasionally introduces region specific vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler Overland in Australia and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Black Edition in China. Even though they won’t hit the U.S. shores anytime soon, it is always fun to look at things you will likely only be dreaming of having.
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: Overland
The Wrangler Unlimited Overland SUV comes in a bright yellow paint scheme with body-colored wheel arches, as well as a body-colored three piece hardtop roof. Under the hardtop owners will find a black Sunrider soft-top and the bumpers are finished with a nice flat black paint. The wheels are 18-inch sparkle polish wheels, giving the exterior an overall look that is more like a Mercedes SUV than it does your run-of-the-mill Jeep Wrangler.
Under the hood, Jeep has installed a powerful 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 gas powered engine attached to a five speed automatic transmission. Of course, some off-roaders may scoff at the idea of an automatic, but hey this is a luxury vehicle and people who are willing to shell out over $40,000 for a vehicle tend to not enjoy a manual shifter as much as the typical Joe Wheeling his Jeep on the weekends.
Inside the Overland, you will find it tricked out with a cool infotainment system, satellite navigation, a rear-view camera, and heated front seats. The cabin is adorned with brightly hued trimmings throughout.
This luxury Jeep hit the Aussie showrooms toward the end of last year and Jeep has high hopes that it will help stem the tide of mediocre Wrangler sales down under in the Aussie outback.
Jeep Grand Cherokee: SRT Black Edition
This is one of those moments as a Jeep lover that you sit back and wonder why Jeep doesn’t release this car in America. For the most part, this is a top-of-the-line Cherokee with all the bells and whistles inside and out, set to compete with the likes of the Mercedes G63 AMG. All of the interior accoutrements are available on the U.S. models, but what isn’t available is the stunning all-black exterior. This car could be a dream come true for Hollywood celebrity types.
Seriously, every place that can be painted black, has been painted black. This includes the Jeep logo on the front of the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s hood. The only pieces that are not black have touches of chrome such as the window outlines, the fog lamps, the dual exhausts, and the alloy wheels.
Under the hood, Chinese buyers will find the same awesome 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that delivers an impressive 648 hp with a earth shattering 624 NM of torque. Maybe one of these days we American Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee lovers will be able to buy these vehicles in the states, but until them we can only dream and drool.
