Stitch was hailed as one of the most popular Jeep concept vehicles to make its debut at the 2013 Easter Moab Jeep Safari this year. Besides the creative design and transparent looking body panels, Stitch may also be hinting at what the Future holds for our beloved Wrangler.
Lightweight Jeeps are Cool
This rig doesn’t just look cool, it’s packed with weight saving mods that dropped 1,100 pounds off what a stock Wrangler would weigh. Utilizing carbon fiber, chromoly for the cage, seats out of the SRT Viper and by also removing various nonessential components, Jeep dropped the weight down to a mere 3,100 pounds. Not too shabby, and the diet doesn’t just help with fuel efficiency, either. Stitch crawls better, rides smoother and has more power than its heavy, stock predecessor. The Stitch’s 35 inch Mickey Thompson tires, 290 HP motor and five speed trans were more than enough to power the concept Jeep through Moab. Based on a previous 2011 Jeep concept vehicle–Pork Chop–Stitch takes technology and innovation to a whole new level, one that we can only hope for a taste of when the next generation Wranglers come out.
