Jeep unveiled their latest concept vehicle, a pickup Wrangler, at Easter Jeep Safari in Moab and we really hope they produce it!

Jeep has teased us with truck style concepts in the past, but they haven’t produced one since the Jeep Comanche was phased out by the Dodge Dakota in 1992.  Sure you can get the AEV Brute conversion kits and DIY your own pickup version of the Wrangler, but it’s not quite the same.  That’s why we’re so excited to see another pickup concept from Jeep.

Sitting on the military Wrangler J8 platform, the Nukizer is a refreshed version of the Jeep Kaiser.  The Kaiser was the vehicle that replaced the Dodge Power Wagon as America’s pickup truck in the Vietnam War.  The Nukizer is all custom carbon fiber in the front and sports a customize TJ AEV pickup conversion in the rear.  Here is a list of some of the other components used:

– 2.8L I-4 Diesel
– 4 Speed Automatic Transmission
– Atlas II Transfer Case
– Custom Tom Woods Drive Shafts
– Dynatrac Pro-Rock Dana 44 and 60 with 5.38 Grears
– ARB Air Lockers
– 38×14.50-R17 BF Goodrich KM2 Tires
– Bestop Soft Top

This concept is motivated by the same 2.8L I-4 diesel that can be found in the J8 wranglers, however his one has been reprogrammed to make more boost.  That torquey power-train turns 38×14.50 BF Goodrich KM2s.  The wheelbase was stretched to 124 inches for ultimate stability on and off road.  Other notable components are the Dynatrac Pro-Rock Dana 44 and Dana 60 axles stuffed with 5.38 gears and ARB air lockers, an Atlas II  transfer case spinning custom Tom Woods drive shafts and custom Bestop soft top.  The lockers are fed by a Warn air compressor and just in case you manage to get this best stuck, you’ll have it back on the trail in no time thanks to the Warn 9.5XP winch.

The idea behind a concept is not for the whole vehicle to go into production as you see it, but for the manufacturer to learn and try out different components to be used in future production vehicles.  So even though we will likely never see the Nukizer in production, we can hope that Jeep decides to bring back the pickup Wrangler that we all wish we could buy.
