Ocean State Jeepsters – Rhode Island

In keeping with trying to bring to the forefront all of the available off roading groups around the state, I bring to you today Ocean State Jeepsters located in Rhode Island. The Ocean State Jeepsters was suggested to us by John Benton. If you know of a group that we haven’t featured yet, please let us know and we will add it to our list. Please provide the URL with your suggestion. If the site does not have a current website, give us some background information on it and address and we will get it posted.

Here is some information about Ocean State Jeepsters from their official website http://oceanstatejeepsters.com/.

Ocean State Jeepsters is a non-profit organization. It seeks to advance four-wheeling as a safe, enjoyable, and environmentally responsible outdoor sport. Trail rides are regularly hosted and there are lots of social events for members. The group also works to expand land access through private partnerships, public education, and legislators.

Anyone who is 18 or over and wants to know more about four-wheeling is welcome to join. An application and registration form must be completed for the online forum to be eligible for membership and it has to be approved by the Secretary. After a provisional member attends 2 club events and a quarterly business meeting, they are voted into membership. There are dues, and these dues are decided at the first of every year and are due annually. Dues are $50 if someone joins between January and June and $25 for those who join after June.

The group has a Facebook page located at Ocean State Jeepsters: www.facebook.com/Ocean.State.Jeepsters. The group has been in place since Jul 2007 and has full membership to the Northeast Association of 4WD clubs and wishes to protect and promote the environment. They are also members of Treat Lightly, which helps promote responsible outdoor recreation. The group also belongs to the Blue-Ribbon Coalition which helps to protect the environment and promote public use that is responsible. They are very active in charity work such as with the Make-A-Wish foundation.

  1. I just bought a Jeep and the salesman was telling me about the Ocean State Jeepsters. He said he had heard a lot of good things about them. I didn’t think I was interested in joining a club but the more I hear and the more I read the more interested I become. The fact that they support the Make a Wish Foundation could just seal the deal. My little brother died from cancer and the Make a Wish Foundation made his last weeks a lot happier.

  2. I love Rhode Island but don’t get there too often. I have relatives who live in New Bedford. I’d like to relocate but I just can’t find workd there. I’ll be visitin for 3 weeks this summer and I might look up the club while I’m there. I don’t usually drive but this time I will be so maybe I can get some off road in too.

  3. I looked up Treat Lightly but couldn’t find it. Is it a misprint or an incomplete name? I wanted to look into it and present it at our next meeting. Thanks.
