The 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler is getting ready to head to the production line soon, however we have still not seen an official image of it yet. That aside, we have some exclusive ‘first look’ rendered images of the new JL Wrangler. The next generation Wrangler carries a lot of the visual essence of the outgoing JK Wrangler, but offers a variety of upgraded components, from the aluminum body panels to the revised Dana axles. 2018 Wrangler Visual Changes
The ’18 Wrangler benefits from a mix of design changes throughout the body from the front bumper to the rear bumper.
One of the most striking visual changes to the Wrangler platform is the window layout. From what we’ve seen so far on the various camouflaged test mule Wranglers, it looks like the new JL will have a smoothed out, panoramic look, which will be assisted by having blacked out b and c pillars.
With recent spy photos tipping us off, it looks like the JL Wrangler’s Grille will be slanted with wider slats. While the Wrangler will be maintaining the iconic Jeep Grille, it is going to be getting a facelift to keep it looking current.
The JL Wrangler’s hood will retain its general appearance, although it will be slightly elongated to accommodate the new 8-speed transmission. The traditional Jeep latches will still be holding things down while aggressive lines give a more pronounced look to the front end.
The roof on the new Wrangler will come available with three different options, which includes a glass roof, true 3-piece hard top, and modular soft top.
Our friends over at wranglerJLforum.com have posted some renderings of their own which fall in line with our own, with minor differences differentiating them. All and all, the new JL Wrangler isn’t going to be a huge departure visually from the outgoing JK. The next-gen Wrangler will maintain a lot of the design hallmarks that enthusiasts have come to know and love, however they will come with an updated/modern look.
